About
The Cnidaria Biodiversity Laboratory is located at the Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability - Nupem of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ. Its studies focus mainly on evaluating the genetic connectivity of reef-forming coral populations along the Brazilian coast and analyzing the diversity of symbiont groups (Zooxanthellae) associated with the main Brazilian species.
Under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Carla Zilberberg, LaBiCni is currently part of 5 research networks of extreme importance for the conservation and knowledge of reef environments in Brazil:
- SISBIOTA-Sea Network
- Living Coral Research Network
- Coral-Sol Research Network
- REDECAP (Deep Environment Coral Network)
- Long Term Ecological Research Network (LRT-ILOC)
