Assessment of the coral-associated zooxanthellae symbiotic community in response to local and global impacts

Monitoring the health of corals as holobionts (host + symbionts) when exposed to environmental conditions predicted for the end of the century due to global climate change. Such predictions involve a greater frequency of increasingly severe thermal anomaly events, rising global temperatures and ocean acidification. In this context, LaBiCni has been involved in projects aimed at monitoring possible changes in the coral zooxanthellae community in response to rising temperatures and decreasing pH.
